tdM.HoN Takes 2nd Place at GSL

tdM GSL

Trademark eSports’ Heroes of Newerth powerhouse team traveled to Thailand as European representatives and took a prestigious 2nd place, dropping games only to eventual champions Stay Green [sG] while winning a cash prize of $10,000.

In a region where Heroes of Newerth is as popular as Starcraft II and League of Legends in other parts of the world, the Garena Star League became the tournament to go to as representatives from all over the world featured in this two-day featured event.  Garena did nothing short but spectacular of hosting shows, ceremonies, and announcement with style as they brought on the local community that supported eSports.  Through the motivation of the bright stage and the hospitality of the Thai community, all the HoN teams competed for a total of $60,000.

Trademark eSports eased through the first day and proceeded onto the second day, knowing they would have to go against the Miami powerhouse Stay Green to get to the finals.   Despite losing to them in a knockout bracket, Trademark eSports preserved and fought through the entire losers bracket to earn them a place in the Grand Finals to seek revenge against their US rivals.

Unfortunately, it was not to happen.

In a best-of-five series where sG had the 1-0 by being in the winner’s bracket, Trademark eSports quickly lost their first game to have sG up 2-0.  In the final possible game for sG, Mynuts drafted a wombo-combo AOE team featuring Keeper of the Forest, Behemoth, Pyromancer, Glacius, and Tempest, but the coordination between the sG members proved to be too much as tdM conceded losing a Kongor token to Khezzu’s Warbeast.

Congratulations to all the teams that participated and congratulations to tdM and sG for representing the Western HoN scene as the dominant powerhouses.  With Las Vegas HoN Tour Finals coming soon, be sure that there will be a rematch.

Meet the Player: Limmp

Two brothers.  Torn apart by war, Linus “Limmp” Blomdin seeks to avenge his older brother as he enters the battlefield in various costumes: sometimes a chainsaw-wielding maniac, sometimes a woman of the Emerald Red, and sometimes as  an owl.   Whatever he appears as next he dominates anyone he goes against, even the brother he grew up with.

Limmp interview

Care to introduce yourself to those who aren’t as familiar as we are with you?
My name is Linus Blomdin, I am 17 years old and I live in Sweden. Ingame I am more known for my nickname Limmp where I play competetivly HoN with Trademark eSports.

Can you tell us a brief history of yourself as a player?
I haven’t really had any big success before this team. I started in a team called from Pubstars [fpbs] where I learned how to play competetive HoN and from there i’ve been in teams like HoNPortal [PORT] and TiG [Team It's Gosu].

What role do you play?
I mostly play on the mid lane as a ganker or soloing another lane.

What makes Trademark eSports better than the other teams out there?
We have a good drafter/leader and a good playstyle.

You have been moving teams lately after the disbanding of Blackfade.  How’s that been in terms of your in-game performance?
It was a good change for tdM in my opinion because now everyone can focus on their role instead of switching up every single game.

When have you started playing MOBA games, namely DOTA/ HoN?
HoN was the first MOBA game I played and I started playing it in late beta.

Did you think you’d be where you are today?
Not at all, I didn’t really play it more than for fun til I started playing with a team but even then I didn’t think I would be in a team as good as this.

Did you look up to any players, or were there people you played with in the beginning?
I thought Testie and Chu were awesome because they always bought a PK (Portal Key).

Many people have switched to DOTA 2 with good reason.  Why are you staying here?
I simply don’t enjoy playing dota 2 because of how “laggy” it feels when u come from HoN and I haven’t gotten bored of playing this game yet so I see no reason to switch.

Who are your favorite three heroes to play?
Zephyr, Scout and Bubbles

What three heroes do you hate going against?
Ophelia, Devourer and Succubus.

Fun Questions:

Blonde or brunette?  Brunette

Superpower?  Invisibility

Favorite drink?  Milk

Favorite hobby outside of video games?  Playing soccer.

If you had to room with another gamer, who would it be and why?  HeatoN because he is a legend and has big biceps.

League of Legends, or DotA 2?  Dota 2

Favorite TV show?  Suits, Entourage and Dexter.

Anything else you’d like to say?  Not really, thanks for having me on and shoutout to Trademark Esports for being big.

Meet the Player: noobG

player_banners_temp_noobg

Born of an ancient ninja clan of the mountain, Lasse “noobG” Jacobsen was raised in a village above the ground in the trees, training to be the perfect weapon – never missing a single kill.   He now farms as a deadly hunter utilizing the trees and the art of deception as he represents Heroes of Newerth as the highest rated player and arguably the world’s deadliest carry.

noobG interview

Care to introduce yourself to those who aren’t as familiar as we are with you?
My name is Lasse Jacobsen – I’m 19, live in Denmark, and I’ve taken this year off following my high school graduation.

Can you tell us a brief history of yourself as a player?
I’ve played in a lot of mid-tier clans, but my real competitive debut was with fpbs. Most recently I played in sGty, but I had to leave because I couldn’t attend Dreamhack.

What role do you play?
Hard carry

What makes Trademark eSports better than the other teams out there?
I think the magnitude of your success as a team is limited especially by how good you are indvidually; not only are we excellent individual players, but we all have extensive competitive experience to accompany this.

When have you started playing MOBA games, namely DOTA/ HoN?
I never really marked the date of my first HoN game, but I believe it must’ve been ~6 months after beta release if I am to believe my friends (shoutout to xyvh for recommending the game to me). I never played Dota.

Did you think you’d be where you are today?
I’ve always been on the top of the ladder in games I’ve played long term – to me it was more a question of how long it would take!

Did you look up to any players, or were there people you played with in the beginning?
I really didn’t care too much about the competitive scene before I entered it myself – so no :(

Many people have switched to DOTA 2 with good reason.  Why are you staying here?
I think HoN has the better gameplay experience, and I don’t really have any foothold in the Dota 2 competitive scene

Who are your favorite three heroes to play?
The Dark Lady, Soulstealer, Flint Beastwood – in that order

What three heroes do you hate going against?
Tremble, Ophelia, Tempest – in that order

Fun Questions:

Blonde or brunette?  Blonde

Superpower?  Immortality

Favorite drink?  Cola, although I don’t drink a lot of soft drinks

Favorite hobby outside of video games?  I’ve spent a lot of time on currency trading and poker. My next project will probably be some programming/web design. Off the computer I love tennis and soccer, but I dont get to play those very often anymore :(

If you had to room with another gamer, who would it be and why?  Insania; I like to keep my enemies close (I suspect he’s a terrorist)

League of Legends, or DotA 2?  DotA 2

Favorite TV show?  Game of Thrones – boring answer, I know.

Anything else you’d like to say?
Le boots du yolo.  Shoutout to Trademark eSports and our sponsors!
